At the beginning of 2004, Seiko introduced a new diver’s watch model, with a titanium case and water resistance up to 200 meters, available in three colors: black (SBDA001), blue (SBDA003) and orange (SBDA005).
The shape of the hands, which for some enthusiasts resembled swords, earned it the nickname of Samurai, which is still maintained today despite the fact that the new models have completely different hands, “borrowed” from the Seiko Monster.
The title of Samurai perhaps suits him more for the lines of the case, which may recall the armor of a Japanese warrior.
First generation
The first three watches, known as the Titanium Samurai, made their debut in Japan in 2004, at the list price of 42,000 yen. Inside the titanium case they house the automatic caliber 7S25, devoid of manual winding and hacking.

Second generation
After a few years of silence, the Seiko Samurai makes its big comeback in 2017, with the reference SRPB09, nicknamed Blue Lagoon.
At first glance, you immediately notice the stylistic change of the hands, which seem to have been borrowed from the Seiko Monster, and the Prospex X appears on the dial.
As for the heart of the watch, there is an upgrade with the 4R35 movement, which adds hacking and manual winding functions.
